Snow?! It's not even Thanksgiving!!!

We are anxiously awaiting our house in the town where the kids school is to be ready! We realized we were just too far from civilization in our little farmhouse. We were paying an arm and a leg in gas. We are house sitting for Terry's sister until our house is ready. It may be next week or Thanksgiving week. woo hoo! We had our first snow last Weds (on Tues I had a little girl for a patient that told me her cousins couldnt come from Iowa City for Thanksgiving due to snow. I was thinking what? snow before Christmas? and we got it the next day!) it was a reality check for getting coats hats boots etc ready to roll. We went and got snow boots for Alyssa tonight and her cousin had a pair of snow pants so we are ready for next time! You cant sled at school without these items they are critical apparently! Shelby is looking forward to Breaking dawn next week. I am also I asked a co worker to go as teenagers don't see movies with their parents! Troy still sees movies with me but he realized Twilight was a love story and decided to pass on watching beyond the first movie. Hope everyone is well

Fall here we come!

The weather has really dropped here. I am not sure if it's going to go back up or stay cold. It's sweatshirt weather already. Last week was just comfortable but this weekend has been nice just a little breezy. I know I will be wishing for AZ weather in the winter but right now it feels like the beginning of AZ winter. We live on a farm and there are tons and tons of clover patches. When I was a kid in Tennessee I had a knack for finding four leaf clovers and I still do! We have found over a dozen. Troy thinks they are some other hybrid of clover they cant possible all be real four leaf clovers...he's just jealous he hasn't found any! We usually find a few in the same patch and in other patches none so they seem to grow in groups. Shelby said well of course no one wants to be weird alone! Homecoming week is coming up for the High School its a really big deal in a small town. There's decorating and float making the weekend before then spirit week all week leading up to the football game and dance. Shelby wants to go and Troy is undecided. We'll see how it plays out. Stay tuned to find out!

Getting to Know you.. Getting to like you?

Well the kids started school. the youngest has 10 girls and 8 boys in her class, and she said she has 9 friends all the girls! The older kids are a little slower to meet friends. Shelby has been in Volleyball so has met a few girls and I think Troy just try's to blend in. It takes time right? Between volleyball and drivers ed we have had many late night dinners. They call it supper here but I refuse. One thing I'm hoping there is a lot less of in winter is cow stink! With all the driving we do to get the kids everywhere we pass a lot of stinky farms. This city girl does not think that is farm fresh air P U!! Shelby said everyone keeps asking her if we lived near a cactus, if it's hot in AZ and why she isn't more tan lol. (because it's not hot enough here to go swimming!)  So hopefully we all meet some friends and feel a little less like a cactus in Iowa soon.

green acres is the place for me!

Well, I wanted to create a blog to keep in touch and share how life's been for us since we left AZ. It's been an adventure. We drove cross country with my husbands parents the three kids and two dogs. That was lots of fun. Shelby wanted to take a pic of the welcome sign of every state we passed we tried. I'll post pics later I have yet to find my cord for my camera.Christina suggested a blog because everyone keeps asking her how we're doing. I've heard lots of rumors. We didn't relocate because we're in the mob and we had to go into hiding ha ha we've just been thinking about it for a long time and small town life has a certain appeal that we've been pondering for a long time.

We are living in a restored farm house in the country. It's really beautiful. It's on four acres we have a dairy farm down the street our closest neighbor. I cant see them but some days I can smell them. Cow air is gross! I am a city girl for sure, but we have had some exciting things about living the country life.  Our first exciting thing was lightning bugs the kids had never seen them and we had a great time chasing and catching them. At night it's amazing to go out and see them all twinkling.  Then the rain storms this summer have been really crazy.  Living in the country has it's good and bad sides. No Circle K on every corner. That's good and bad. less stress but you better not run out of toilet paper cause it's a 15 min ride to the closest store!

I got a job in a dental office. It's nice but I hate being the new girl. I'm working for a young dentist that's a woman. We are a young super busy practice. For some reason our theme is Purple scrubs charts decor etc, you get the idea I havent asked why purple but it's kinda fun. I really miss the feeling of being at an office for 12 years where everybody knows my name. I"m like being Norm from cheers!

Some of the different things about Iowa life are  here are lots of gas stations don't have a pre pay feature. that means you pump then you pay...crazy!! I went to the hardware store we rented a weed eater. I possible needed more cord they had me take it with me, if I needed it I could pay for it when I came back to return the weed eater the next day  otherwise I just brought it back with no charge. No contract saying I had it they just trusted me.  So they are very trusting. It's small town life for sure. I will try to keep posting. Kids start school next week. Shelby is in Volleyball and Troy starts drivers ed.(Both teenagers got their Iowa permits it's allowed at 14 here. Shelby is super excited! can I just say YIKES!!!!) Hope this answers some questions about where we are and how we're doing!
